Outdoor garden statues are available in many different types and styles.  With a little bit of research you are limited only by your imagination.

The first thing that you need to do to find a garden statue that suits your style is to decide on what type of statue it is that you want.  Here are some of the types of statues that are available.

Garden gnomes:
These guys (and gals) are hands down one of the most well known and popular types of garden statuary.  They originated in Germany about 300 years ago and are believed to bring good luck to the owner of the garden they are placed in.  They are well suited to a whimsical garden design.

Religous garden statues:
This is a huge category, with all sorts of religions and figures represented.  People choose religous statuary for many reasons - as an expression of faith or to create a sense of peace.  If you choose a sacred piece it deserves a place of prominence in your garden.  Some of the more common types of religous garden ornaments include figures of angels, St. Francis garden statues, and Buddha.

Disney garden statues:
This seems like an odd category to many people, but Disney characters are American icons and find there way into many aspects of American life, including gardens.  You can get nearly any character you choose to put in your garden, but the most popular are Mickey Mouse and the seven dwarves.  Disney characters work well for people who enjoy fun.

Cat garden statues:
(and wolves, and giraffes, and dogs) You will find many animal statues making there home in gardens and you can find nearly any animal in any size for your garden.  They can be cute or sophisticated, big or small.  Personally, I have a small frog statue in my own garden, and people seem to really like him.

Large garden statues:
These are the big focal points that you use to make a visual impact in your garden.  When using a large piece be sure to design your garden around it.   One of the best things about these large pieces is that they make your garden look nice even in the winter time.

Garden fountains:
Fountains require more maintanience than most other garden sculptures, but they are worth it.  Not only will you get a great looking piece, but you will also get the soothing sound of water to go with it.  With a fountain be sure to get one with a quality pump and keep the water clean and full.
